Lions Last Lap

Lake Creek High School is working hard to create new traditions for our high school and our first Senior Class. Royals Coach Chelsea Peverill thought a new tradition, Lions Last Lap, would be a neat way to end the season for our students who are involved in Friday Night Lights. “I remember how meaningful it was to go on the field after my last home game knowing that was it. I love the idea of our groups doing this together and being united as one senior class. I love Mrs. Miller’s idea to spread it to all activities. Although we missed volleyball, for basketball, baseball, swim, etc, after their last home event as a senior, they will walk united across their field or court. I think it is going to be an awesome new tradition! LOVED watching the class of 2020 walk on Friday!
The name Lions Last Lap was just catchy sounding to me lol!"

Principal Phil Eaton says, "Our Seniors will be forever remembered for their efforts to "start" #lakecreeklions HS." #bestyearever #bebolder

Lake Creek Robotics

It has been an incredible year for Lake Creek Robotics. In its infancy, the program has already produced two very competitive robotics teams – 2854 A and 2854 B. Both teams are comprised of Intro to Robotics students. This year was the first time these students have ever worked with VEX robots, so they had to learn how to design, build, and code before they were ever able to put a competitive robot together. This group of extraordinary young men were pitted against some very skilled and seasoned robotics teams, some of which who have been part of a competition robotics team for all four years of their high school careers.

Both teams competed in four regional qualifying events. Team 2854 A was ranked 5th in the Space City HS EDR Tournament and was able to compete in the quarterfinals. Team 2854 B was able to advance to the quarter finals in three out of four tournaments, and while at the tournament hosted by Montgomery High School, advance to the finals.

Due to a strong showing at these regional competitions, Team 2854 B was able to secure an invitation to the South Texas State Championship through their skills score ranking. This ranking is calculated as a combination score of programming and driving skills. During the qualifying matches of the state tournament, the team went 6-2 which set their rank to 3rd place in the division. The team was able to create an alliance with a complementary robotics team, devise a strong strategic plan, and advance to the final round of their division (overall semi-finalist), which allowed them to advance to the VEX Robotics World Championship which will be held in Louisville, Kentucky from April 24 – 27.

Team 2854 B Accomplishments:
  • Ranked # 20 in Texas for Skills (combined coding and driving)
  • Ranked # 276 in the US for Skills (combined coding and driving)
  • Ranked # 347 in the World for Skills (combined coding and driving)
  • Regional Tournament Quarter Finalist (three times)
  • Regional Tournament Finalist
  • South Texas State Tournament Semi Finalist
  • World Championship Qualification
Team 2854 B Members: Joshua Alaniz, Myles Ezman, Martin Posada, Justin Kelly, Jay Whaley, Alex Veneros, Ben Rideout, Colton Jenkinson, COACH: Eric Moons
